Treasure Hunt

Foundation students of IICS lead by Kevin Ong were given the opportunity to host an English Themed Treasure Hunt. Kevin and his creative team had proved to IICS students that learning English is more than just reading from textbook and that the world’s major language in daily life has a wide range of uses.
Starting from the Concourse Area of IICS as their starting station, all 6 teams were instructed to follow their clues which lead them to task stations. At the task stations treasure hunters were tested in different aspects of their skills. From coconut dribbling to water balloon catch to copying music lyrics but the challenge rated as the most difficult was finding certain words in newspaper articles in limited time. If any team failed to complete any task, that team have to complete and extra task in the punish station before proceeding the hunt. While majority of task involve some sort of skills and talent, each task normally ends with solving an English based questions and puzzles.

After 2 hours of toil from 12-2pm, Lilian, Johnson and Yee Teng from Cambridge A-Level and Northwood University were titled winner and won T.G.I Friday’s vouchers. All-boys teams Jason, Marcus and Eugene came second while team Jyun, Kerry and Chris took third place, both teams from Diploma in Hospital Management. After a brief chat with some of the contestants, they all agreed that the race was physically and academically challenging but it was fun, worth the experience and the best way to learn English.
